Margaret Howell is a favourite with the fashion crowd – if anyone can get them up and out on a Sunday morning then it's the lure of her Wigmore Street store.
There’s never any glitz and glamour but Margaret can always be relied upon for pieces that slip effortlessly into your wardrobe and get worn to death.
So when it comes to summer staples next season we know where we’ll be headed. White cotton sundress, check. Slouchy navy trousers, check. Tan loafers, check. Easy striped T-shirts, check.
After last season’s Highland fling, the Brit designer went right back to basics, sticking to her favoured colour palette of navy, white, grey and khaki and simple, clean lines. The only hint of brighter colour came on a block striped vest and loose-fitting T-shirt dress.
Our stand out pieces? The light cotton hooded duffle coat, the sheer pleated ballerina skirt, which, incidentally, is cropping up everywhere. And, in her second season of designing bags, she had us lusting after the large tan leather satchel that was sent down the catwalk.
Directional it was not, but it was easy, effortless, chic and stylish – all the things we love most about Margaret Howell’s style.
Check our catwalk channel tomorrow to see the show.
