A nature-led masterclass in day-to-day luxury

Maria Grachvogel is in reflective mode for autumn/winter 2013.

Inspired by ‘the quiet calm of winter woodland landscapes’, this afternoon she presented a classically tailored collection of wear-forever pieces - apron-fronted trousers, high-necked, pull-on blouses, button-through shirt dresses with self-tie belts - punctuated with photographic, nature-led prints.

Deliciously, even the colours sounded like terms you might find in a forrester’s almanac: ashen, lichen, bone, oxblood.

Standout moments included a brown velvet jumpsuit with a slurry floral print blooming up the front, and kimono-shape jackets and, of course, the shoes: glossy wedges that mark a second-season link-up with girl-of-the-moment Atalanta Weller.

Let’s not beat around the naked, printed-on-silk bush. You know what you’re going to get when you come to a Grachvogel show. She makes throw-on-and-go clothes for busy women who want a touch of luxury in their everyday wardrobes. And, if the clothes themselves aren’t enough, her front row - which boasted such diverse power-players as Yasmin Le Bon, Theresa May and Dame Kelly Holmes - is testament to how just how brilliantly she can deliver that.
