Airbrushing and body contouring
A figure hugging mini dress with spray painted lines that emphasised the curves of its model's body opened the Marios Schwab show, a perfect reflection of the collection's title; 'Contours'. Always keen to celebrate the female form, this season he was exploring the technique of airbrushing.
His femme fatale wore simple shifts with undone sleeves and slits across the body that were held together by oversized staples and denim pieces had distressed and frayed details running across them. Basket weave appeared as sleeves and bodices and even a pair of trousers, encasing and framing parts of the body.
Schwab offered up dresses with wow factor too with sheer, floaty fabrics overlaying sequins and stiffer, sculptural gowns with crystal embellishments. But for the most part is was a quieter, more understated offering than we've come to expect from him, right down to the the leather sandals, created for the show by Pantelis Melissinos and his father, 'The Poet Sandal Maker' and the leather backpacks (add to your wish list for next season).
