It was called A Wolf in Lamb’s Clothing, it was dedicated to blogger Tavi and it was about the most fun you could have at a catwalk show or indeed any weekday afternoon.

Meadham Kirchhoff’s spring summer extravaganza was a childhood fantasy playtime filled with all your favourite things causing the audience to digress 20 years. To open, a flock of Courtney Love lookalikes in blonde, pink and blue wigs and satin negligees powdered their faces before breaking in to a furious dance routine to the can-can. After last season’s blink and you’ll miss it show, was this it? In which case, brilliant fun but oh no, the dresses looked cheap! From behind the gold curtain however, came the real collection.

A pure pantomime cast of cartoonish hearts on red dungarees, sculpted sequin shorts with tartan bloomers beneath, feather ra-ra skirts and teddy faces for pockets. Giant kipper ties were worn under blue bibs and can-can girl illustrations tracked around Marie-Antoinette gowns. And all the while the can-can girls danced...

For an encore, little ballerinas danced in tutus and red satin pumps as the finale dresses came out making us feel like proud parents watching the end of term play. And it was the end of one term. This marked the close of London Fashion Week with its brilliant show of talent that far outshone New York for creativity and substance. Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff cheered us no end, and you just know those knickerbockers are going to be a hit next season.
