A Roberto Cavalli show is never going to be an understated affair.

He excels at the sexy, glamorous maximalism that is Milan's signature, so a veiled catwalk hung with bright red scaffolding and chandeliers, set in the shadow of a grand arched monument are par for the course really. Not to mention Courtney Love on the front row.
Sequins and print play a major part in the s/s 2012 collection. Glitzy gold jackets, embellished black cocktail dresses and skirts with sequinned knife pleats that opened to reveal feminine florals. Leopard prints sat against boldly picked out florals in drop waisted dresses that had sequin bands wound round the hips. And beautiful body-skimming dresses with flowing skirts left little to the imagination thanks to black lace panels that ran from shoulder to toe - we expect to see Courtney working one any minute.
For those less inclined to bare their legs there were some snappily tailored jackets and black military trousers with gold strips running down the legs, snug fitting trouser suits and rock chick embossed leather pants in embossed leather.
Subtle it was not, but we'd have been disappointed with anything less.
