Since Massimiliano Giornetti, the designer of Salvatore Ferragamo’s menswear side, took over the reigns on womenswear, there has been quite a buzz surrounding the label.

Despite showing at the tail end of Milan Fashion Week, a huge throng of editors and buyers came to see his second collection.

Like last season, there was a 70s luxe feel to spring summer 2011. Wide-lapelled jackets, crochet swimsuits and suede full-length skirts were bohemian and aristocratic all at once. Headscarves were worn with every look, putty, lemon and navy provided a elegant approach to summer and it mixed businesslike (white and chambray trouser suits) with sexy (backless flirty dresses).

This is a label rediscovering its roots and making it relevant once more.
