The artwork behind the catwalk said it all.

YES appeared in six-foot letters on a giant canvas by New York painter Trey Speegle, spelling out everything that Stella McCartney wanted to convey for spring/summer 2010. So that’s YES to easy chic and YES to elegant but comfortable clothes and YES to uncomplicated fashion from a female designer who believes in these things above all else. But it was also a great big YES for a collection that distilled the essence of the brand with a new energy and focus. With Gwyneth Paltrow in the front row, Stella sent out truly beautiful and feminine pieces: relaxed silk tailoring, lace bodysuits, 1970s denim and cork wedges. For evening, things got a lot more colourful and ruffled, though always wearable and desirable. The Beatles finale soundtrack added an extra emotional pull. Who wouldn’t say YES to all that?
