Thakoon is a designer who knows how to charm and his spring summer 2013 show did just that.

The first outfit drew gasps at its loveliness – a satin strapless dress printed with birds flying through cherry blossom, the bars of a golden cage contouring the model’s body.

More birds and butterflies and flowers followed, sometimes embroidered in sequins on a bright yellow blouse or printed on a dress collaged from cotton, leather and jersey.

This kind of textural mash-up is starting to look like another trend for the season and, as always, Thakoon did it with skill. A black broderie anglaise skirt, airy and sheer, was worn with a top that sliced together the same fabric with green and blue leather. Embroidered organza slips over paillette-strewn dresses were other strong looks.

It’s also worth noting the appearance of the peplum on jackets and dresses: this is one trend which looks to be sticking.

At the end of the show, Thakoon took his bow to resounding cheers. Like we said, he’s a charmer.
