It wasn’t hard to be impressed—bowled over, even—by Tommy Hilfiger’s Autumn Winter collection.

Set in a gravel strewn park complete with park bench front-row seating and a bevy of maple trees, the bucolic and beautiful backdrop paved the way for a delightfully spirited collection whose looks more than suggested a whiff of Duchess of Cambridge elegance.

Hilfiger entitled his show “Town and Country,” suggesting that the colour-blocked military style coats and leather dresses and suits would be home no matter the setting. It was Hilfiger’s use of suede, however, that really struck a nice chord. It was luxe: quilted and colourblocked, the new-and-improved hunting suit aesthetic was highly attractive. Glen plaid and houndstooth, meanwhile, offered a classic take on menswear patterns—reinterpreted in silk dresses with riding and cable knit prints and pleated backs. Adding to the attractiveness of the clothes was a rich colour palette of burgundy, midnight navy and caramel suggested the airs of Camelot—no matter which side of the Atlantic.
