Always a foot-tappingly joyous event, Tommy Hilfiger's spring show was inspired by, you've guessed it, preppy.

This time mixed with pop art, manifesting itself through kaleidoscopic block-coloured ponchos and ‘60s-infused shirt dresses and jumpsuits.

All your basics were present and correct to pack in to your summer wardrobe, from silk pyjama dresses and Grandad collar knits to asymmetric swimsuits and silk kaftans. Camouflage was thrown in, used on blazers, shirtdresses and skirts, worn all at once, print on alternate-colourway print. It still looked utterly feminine and, the USP here, preppy.

With a high-fiving finale Hilfiger had much to clap about. Now that Peter Som is fully ensconced as consultant, which item is going to have the fashion-cred crowd cooing over like the duck boots of yester-season? I'll take a punt at the ponchos, but strictly for the August month-off you understand...
