The Topshop Unique show was the first to showcase this season's high street sponsored venue, housed once again in the former Eurostar Terminal at Waterloo.
On hand to mark the occasion and enjoy the free food (or maybe that was just the editors?) were, of course, Phillip Green and his daughter Chloe accompanied by a British supermodel - no, not Kate this time but Naomi, decked out in Alexander McQueen. We also spotted Lorraine Kelly, Olivia Palermo and Julia R-R, as well as an Erdem-clad Anna Wintour - Topshop wields its power both sides of the Atlantic these days.
The main inspiration for the collection was Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra, but with a decidedly modern, nineties hip-hop twist. So it was heavy on the gold, with graphic, abstract patterns splashed across sporty jersey dresses, cropped tops and over-sized hooded tops, all topped off with peaked leather caps. Black body-con minis were covered with mosaics of reflective pyramids and paired with gold platform sandals, and pyramids, tigers and acanthus leaves all cropped up in print. We can't see Naomi stepping out in it anytime soon but the cool and edgy youngsters who hang out in Topshop will love it.
