Poppy, summer, fun
Butterflies, flowers and a red-and-blue check put us in mind of a très chic picnic at Vanessa Bruno today.
Button-through crop-tops came with matchy-matchy skinny trousers. Pop-on-and-go strapless dresses were sliced through with a contrast-print fabric around the waist. Dungaree-style, dropped-waist minis floated atop equally floaty crop tops.
These are precisely the clothes –lightweight, loosely-cut and brightly coloured – that you want to throw on on those mornings when it’s unbearable to be indoors. Plus, there were biker jackets, in white with printed lining or jade green leather, to throw in your tote in case a shower should threaten.
The waist is the thing: there was barely a look that didn’t expose a sliver of flesh across the midriff – or, in the case of one particularly risqué playsuit, across the bum. (Go on, we dare you.)
But if the thought of that sends you scurrying for shade, take heart: we’re fairly certain that the slouchy, square hobo bags in cobalt blue or zebra, or the vividly-coloured pouches adorned with super-sized contrasting tassels, or the round-toed, lace-through booties will be sure to give your credit card the opportunity it’s looking for to get involved.
