The veteran designer's latest call to arms.

Whether it was the Sunday lunchtime slot or the clean, calm setting of the Saatchi Gallery, the Vivienne Westwood show seemed more sedate and less frenzied than usual. Not that the Punk pioneer has toned down her revolutionary message, of course. Indeed the show notes made no mention of the collection at all but instead were a call to arms in the fight against climate change.
The clothes themselves had the indelible Westwood stamp all over, from the tucked and draped tailored dresses and skirt suits to the checked shorts and jackets. The outsized costume jewellery, the brightly coloured Melissa shoes and the models faces that were quite literally painted on, all added to the colourful vibe.
For those who prefer their pieces more simple there were some strong separates to choose from too. The opening look featured a seriously covetable blue and maroon striped coat, casually belted at the waist; full skirts in black leather and pale pink organza would be easy to wear; and a large holographic clutch caught our eye. We’ll probably leave the one with the large holographic phallus on it for the more daring fans.
The Dame herself took to the catwalk wearing an ’I Am Julian Assange’ T-shirt, every inch the veteran protester. We wouldn’t have her any other way.
