A/W 2009 : New Model Faces

Cato has been tipped for big things by none other than Miuccia Prada. Mrs Prada secured the Dutch model exclusively for a/w 2008 for both her Prada and Miu Miu show. Cato went on to grace the covers of countless magazines including Dazed and Confused, Dutch Elle, and the prestigious French magazine L’Officiel. For s/s 2009 Cato walked for some major designers including Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, and Dries Van Noten, and has recently featured in the D&G advertising campaign shot by Mario Testino.

French beauty Constance made her debut on the New York catwalks last season and instantly caused a flurry of excitement with her classic good looks and gorgeous pout. She opened the show for BCBG Max Azria and went on to appear at Diane von Furstenberg, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Vivienne Westwood. She has been photographed for Numero and Interview and can currently be spotted in the spring campaigns for D&G, Topshop and Y-3.

When the uber chic Carine Roitfeld, editor of the famously fashion forward French Vogue, claims a new model as ‘the next Kate Moss’ the fashion industry takes notice. The 18 year old daughter of Russian academics has walked for Emanuel Ungaro and Karl Lagerfeld. Known for her feline features, she has already secured contracts with CK Calvin Klein and Vera Wang.

With her cherubic face and goddess body Abby has the same angelic appeal of fellow Australian Gemma Ward and seems to be set for the same success. Lee’s big break came when Mario Testino shot her for D&G in 2008 and her toothy grin has already graced the cover of V, Dazed and Confused and Vogue. Since then she has earned advertising contracts as the face of Gucci Flora perfume and Calvin Klein for CK Jeans. She also hit headlines for fainting during the s/s/ 2009 Alexander McQueen show due to a restrictive corset. There is speculation as to whether Lee will walk for a/w 2009 due to surgery on her knee, but we expect she will be back with a bang next summer.

Since replacing Natalia Vodianova as the face of Calvin Klein Collection in 2008 German born Toni has ushered in a new, wholesome fresh-faced look. After opening and closing s/s 2008 for Calvin Klein, Toni signed a year long contract with the label. S/s 2009 was her season; She bagged major advertising campaigns with Etro, Chloe, Fendi, Hugo Boss Black and Seiseido and walked for all the major designers from Louis Vuitton to McQueen and Chanel.

Estonian Karman cut her teeth in London and her first show appearance was for our very own Christopher Kane in s/s 2007. From there she graduated to Milan and walked for Armani and Marni and her career has been jam-packed ever since. Pedaru has an impressive and extensive portfolio with editorials from V, Numero, Vogue and ID and has been photographed by numerous fashion greats from Karl Lagerfeld to Mario Testino. S/s 2009 was a hit season for Karmen and she opened for DKNY and Jonathan Saunders as well as securing a prestigious advertising campaign with D&G, photographed by Mario Testino.
