A/W 2010 : New Model Faces

Before walking for Louis Vuitton, Narciso Rodriguez and Lanvin, Jeneil stretched her legs as an athlete. Swapping the shot put and high jump for the all-black issue of Italian Vogue, her Benetton ad campaign sparked interest from Anna Wintour and led to a meeting with Mario Testino. Her steady rise will see key editorial shoots this year, including a stand-out naked cover for Love.

Polish beauty Jac has caused quite a stir since landing a Hermes campaign at just 13-years-old. After a succession of covers, she is now the face of Calvin Klein for the second consecutive season; a feat only ever achieved by Natalia Vodianova. Forced to sit out of London and Paris due to age restrictions, she still walked in 33 top shows and opened seven in just one season. Now 16, she is set to make an even bigger impact. Expect her to be one of the most–booked girls on the catwalk in the coming weeks.

Since opening Christopher Kane’s show in September Valerija was most recently shot by Juergen Teller for Celine’s SS10 ads. On the catwalks she has walked for Rodarte,Dries Van Noten & Margiela and has an upcoming editorial in Dazed & Confused. This super-new brunette with an edgy look and intense stare is set to make an even bigger splash this year.

Models certainly know how to fit a lot into a short lifetime. This 22-year-old wife and mother has caught the attention of Karl Lagerfeld and already taken over from Claudia Schiffer as the face of Chanel. After opening and closing the spring Chanel show, she has landed ad campaigns for Alexander McQueen, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana and walked for a host of couture shows. With Karl’s seal of approval, we’re sure to be seeing lots more from her.

One of the most talked about newcomers at the spring shows was our Dutch crush Mirte Maas. A relative newcomer, she only signed to her agency in 2009 but opened the Alexander Wang SS10 show for her catwalk debut - not a bad start. She went on to open YSL, Donna Karen and walked for a whole host of fashion’s finest including Balenciaga, Givenchy and Proenza Schouler which has pretty much clinched her future supermodel status. This is just the start of her breakout season.

Sedene is one of the newest models on the block. Since capturing the attention of New York Models, she was signed in 2009 and has already landed work with Calvin Klein and Vogue - fast work! With her wide eyes and sky-high cheek bones, this Jamaican newcomer is being tipped as the new Iman.
