A/W 2011 : New Model Faces

Since Alexander Wang handpicked Britt to open his SS 11 show, the Swedish born Texan has every editor, stylist and designer standing to attention. Wang’s show sparked a wave of requests from the likes of Rodarte, Fendi and Chanel but it was at Balenciaga where she made the biggest impact. With her hair dyed peroxide blonde and eight inches snipped off, Britt was the stand-out girl on the French power house’s catwalk…

The rise of this pouty 15 year old Dutch sensation has been meteoric. First catching our attention fronting the Dominic Jones collection, she has risen through the catwalk ranks. Kicking off with Prada and Miu Miu in her first season, she went on to walk for Givenchy Haute Couture before bagging a Calvin Klein exclusive. And currently gracing the cover of Vogue Italia alongside Tom Ford is a sure sign she is set for an even more impressive season…

Finnish model Kirsi cut her teeth in London, making her show debut for Ann-Sofie Back and then opening for Christopher Kane. From there she graduated to Milan where she walked exclusively for Prada and finished the season with Givenchy and Loewe. These select appearances put Kirsi at the top of Steven Meisel’s personal list of favourites who has since shot her alongside Stella Tennant and Karen Elson for Balenciaga’s ad campaign. The fashion industry has been left transfixed by the gap toothed, cherubic face of Lindsey Wixson. Ever since Steven Meisel hand-picked the Kansas girl for an Italian Vogue shoot, the 16 year old has walked for the likes of Stella McCartney, Prada and Giles, appeared in numerous editorials and even had an issue of i-D dedicated to her. The model of the moment seemingly has the talent, face, and that ever-elusive je ne sais quoi. Currently fronting the Mulberry, Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen campaigns, it’s unlikely we’ll be forgetting this face any time soon.

Watch out girls, there’s a new model in town - and it’s not what you expect. Along with transsexual Lea T, the 19 year old is re-writing the model rule book. The beautiful hourglass bride seen at the finale of Gaultier’s Haute Couture show in Paris was in fact male model Andrej Pijac. With a Marc by Marc Jacobs and Jean Paul Gaultier campaign under his belt, the rise of the androgynous star looks set to continue.

With a superstar name, Arizona Muse is one of the most talked about models of the year. Last season’s break-out girl first started modelling back in 2008 but fell pregnant and took a year and a half off. But her recent comeback has been nothing short of explosive, landing some of the most coveted modelling gigs in only her first season –the face of YSL and Prada is nothing short of impressive. With the looks, the attitude and the name, not to mention the success, she’s set to be the star of 2011.
