Temperley London

Hitchcock heroines appear to be having a revival at the moment, and Alice Temperley took full advantage by sending an army of Tippi Hedrens down the runway.

The collection was entitled ‘Byrds’ and its leading ladies were flawless, neatly groomed and in complete control of their wardrobes. Knee length flared skirts were paired with tight fitting sweaters that were belted into place. Sixties swing coats and jackets topped elegant wide-legged trousers. There were some beautiful prints in jewel tones of blue and green, and some rich, heavily silk pieces that were the epitome of polished luxury. Teamed with towering Charlotte Olympia heels and leather gloves, the effect was more edgy than the usual Temperley offering.

The customers for whom the label is a go-to for a great dress won’t be disappointed though. The embellished shifts, gold trimmed floor-sweeping gowns and monochrome dresses with hardware and crystal adornments ticked the box for red carpet or party dressing. But we loved the cool poise of the daywear most of all.
