Eva Rothschild
Irish artist Eva Rothschild is getting her big moment this summer. Alongside a much anticipated solo show at Stuart Shave Modern Art gallery in London (runs 4 July to 22 August), London's Tate Britain has commissioned her to create her largest work to date – a 70m long sculpture for the Duveens' Commission (runs 30 June to 29 November). Over the past decade, Rothschild has been quietly establishing herself as a major force in sculpture. Her work, made of bold materials such as leather ribbons, steel and black perspex, veers from austere and edgy to magical and accessible. There’s a darkness at the heart of her art but without any haunted house clichés.
