Katie Hillier, Creative Director of Marc by Marc Jacobs, has been awarded Accessories Designer Of The Year at the ELLE Style Awards.

The award was presented by Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie.

Hillier cut her teeth on Luella Bartley’s eponymous label back in 1999. Her kitschy but cool designs (who doesn’t covet those cheeky bunny trinkets?) secured her a three-year stint under Bartley, before launching her own Hillier studio.

She’s since designed for Marc by Marc Jacobs for over a decade, as well as lending her expertise to labels like Victoria Beckham, Loewe, Joseph and Asprey.

Now reunited with her mentor, Hillier and Luella Bartley were appointed creative director and design director, respectively, of the Marc by Marc Jacobs womenswear division last year; showing together for the first time in New York this month.

‘Her career trajectory is off the scale,’ says ELLE’s Assistant Editor Rebecca Lowthorpe. ‘She’s extremely experienced, at the top of her game, has brilliant ideas and because of all that always working with fashion's biggest innovators. She’s also one of the smartest and nicest women in fashion.’
