Samantha Barks didn’t just wow us with her performance of ‘On My Own’ at the ELLE Style Awards - we loved her pretty chignon too.

Ava Holland, Stylist at Rossano Ferretti, who created the look for Barks said, ‘Samantha wanted a modern take on a classic French chignon with added volume and a youthful untidy look’.

Here’s your step-by-step to getting the look:

Prep your hair using a volumising mouse, to add texture.

Blow dry using a small round brush, tong your hair and then pin your curls up loosely allowing time to set (10-15 mins).

Loosely brush through the curls to create a light wave, slightly backcombing the roots to add volume and lift as each curl is released.

Section your hair into three parts, a larger one on top and one on either side of the head.

Begin by pinning the top section straight back, leaving out a few loose pieces on either side to frame the face.

Then carefully pin each of the sides, wrapping the hair round into a chignon, before pinning loosely in place.

Release strands of hair around the chignon to create a messy and youthful look.

Finish with a strong hair to finish the look.
