Shari Miller (Wed, 04 Jun 2014 13:24:47 +0100): This is so wrong, obviously. Ignorance is not bliss, especially for those of us on the receiving end. Ignorant or indifferent - end result is the same.
Mita Benally (Wed, 04 Jun 2014 13:40:38 +0100): Who gave you the right to wear the warrior' bonnet. That's disrespectful on so many levels. The shit people do for more money.
Melanie Sainz (Wed, 04 Jun 2014 14:11:59 +0100): Open Letter to Pharrell Williams
I am an enrolled member of the Hochunk Nation of Wisconsin and I am writing to inform you that your recent photo cover for Elle magazine is offensive and disrespectful. Your video on this website endorses the nerd, or smart person. This cover photo symbolizes neither. I would recommend that whatever compensation that you received for this cover photo and story is immediately donated to First Nations/American Indian veterans as they are the only entity that hold the true right to wear a headdress. They gave the ultimate sacrifice, they fought for our freedom, and the feathers on this sacred garment is symbol of their bravery and respect. You have not even scratched the surface of this kind of commitment to people and country. Up until today I was an advocate for your music and your message, and now I can see it is all a facade. Spend some time with a group of Native veterans, listen to their stories, and wise up, please!
