Trends a/w 2009 - The 1940's Lady

THE 1940's LADY

You could see it as a make-do-and-mend reaction to the economic crisis. Or you could see it as simply beautiful investment clothes at a time when women need some convincing to shop.
Either way, the 40s featured in some of the season’s best collections. From boiled wool coats at Prada with back-to-the-land waders, to sophisticated nipped-waist skirt suits at Dior, this is the last word in grown-up and ladylike chic. Lanvin and Miu Miu give the look sex appeal, with fur stoles draped across the body, sheer blouses and clever embellishments, while the luxe floor-length satin dresses at Hermes are pure old school Hollywood.
