Trends a/w 2009 - Shine On
SHINE ON
Embellishment isn’t just an added extra this season, it’s so commonplace as to count as a trend. From crystal to sequins, lamé to lurex, if it moved then it probably also sparkled.
Some of it was subtle: Miu Miu had shiny, beaded flowers embroidered onto tights, Preen had shiny panels slithering round a body con dress, while Marios Schwab’s beautiful black cocktail dress split open over the chest to reveal a hint of silver sequins.
Some of it wasn’t even trying to be subtle: Gucci produced glittery leggings to match equally glittery tunic dresses, while Balmain liberally threw sequins over eveningwear.
