Louis Vuitton, Spring/Summer 2009
Founded in 1854 as a Parisian luggage manufacturer, Louis Vuitton only launched ready-to-wear in 1997. Just over a decade later, designer Marc Jacobs has established the brand as the last word in luxury. As well as wildly desirable and commercially successful bags, often designed in collaboration with artists such as Takashi Murakami and more recently Richard Prince, Jacobs has pushed the clothing at Vuitton in unexpected ways. While crafted with the spectacular quality you’d expect, it always manages to surprise.
