From the duo that had girls reaching for the scissors to fray up their denim last season, came a softer, more romantic collection. Their first offering since winning the coveted LVMH price, Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida were mindful not to stray too far from their roots, keeping the core silhouettes in denim, but also in paper-thin chiffon and gossamer ruffles.

With the influence the brand had on the way we wore denim in 2015, we’re looking to their new collection for more styling tips…

Rule 1 – Matchy, matchy. Go head to toe in one colour, the bolder the better...

...For a hardcore M’A look, match your bag and shoes too.

Rule 2 – Don’t button up. As weird as it feels, leave those cuffs undone!

Rule 3 – Let your make-up run. 'It's like, when you go to a nightclub, sweat from dancing and everything goes south’, explained Mac Cosmetics make up artist Terry Barber

Rule 4 – Keep the cropped flares. While it was awkward to get your head around at first (what shoe do you wear?!), the new flare still feels contemporary.

Rule 5 – Buckle up. Keep your accessories and detailing tough, to balance out more feminine fabrics.

Rule 6 – Don’t bin the frayed denim. Judging by the fashion pack outside the shows this LFW, frayed denim will continue to be a mainstay for our wardrobes this Spring, with other NewGen brands like Faustine Steinmetz and Claire Barrow also embracing the distressed aesthetic.
