Christopher Kane wins British Designer Of The Year

At the ELLE Style Awards

Christopher Kane has added the ELLE Style Award for British Designer of the Year 2014 to his accolades arsenal.

Kane was presented with the award by actress – and ELLE style crush – Felicity Jones.

Given his track record to date, the Central Saint Martins alumnus could probably retire the award for Most Arcane Influence. While synonymous for his original body-con aesthetic, Kane is such an original thinker that there will always be a shock of the new – the Scottish designer manages to surprise us each season with a dichotomy between sophisticated staples and experiments that defy taste and logic.

Always a highlight on the London Fashion Week calendar, each new collection becomes a career best and leaves little wonder as to why fashion's favourite chameleon has such a legion of stylist celebrity devotees: Alexa Chung, Kate Bosworth, Emma Watson… need we go on?

And, after only showing his debut collection in 2006, it's thrilling to think he might just be getting started.
