Closer to home, but just as cold...


Imagine a night in a glass igloo watching the Northern Lights? How spectacular would that be? The temperature outside may be -30 c, but inside, they say, all is cosy, with a special glass-domed 'lid' which doesn't frost or steam up to obscure the magical view. Just lie back and watch the show.

There are 20 of these glass igloos at Kakslauttanen, a little village of mainly log cabins in Finnish Lapland, They cost from around £160 pp per night B&B. (The Northern Lights are usually visible late August to late April)
