Manolo Blahnik has won the Lifetime Achievement award at the ELLE Style Awards 2015.

Naomi Campbell presented him the award.

Born in the Canary Islands, Blahnik was an aspiring theatre designer before magazine editor Diana Vreeland saw his sketches and persuaded him to design shoes. He opened his first store in London’s Chelsea in 1973 and has been designing his signature colourful and creative, sophisticated and sexy shoes ever since. His pieces have been worn by everyone who’s anyone, from Sarah Jessica Parker and Gwyneth Paltrow, to the Duchess of Cambridge and Beyoncé – not to mention their starring role in Sex And The City.

He’s a favourite among designers too and, over the course of his career, has created show shoes for Ossie Clarke, Calvin Klein, Dior Couture, Zac Posen, Oscar de la Renta and Victoria Beckham.
