A couple of weeks ago, we reported how three pairs of Alexander McQueen's iconic Armadillo boots were to be auctioned off at Christie's. Well, we may have an idea of whose feet they ended up on...

Lady Gaga posted on instagram that the infamous shows were 'a gift from heaven'. We couldn't think of a better suiter (especially as we're not sure we could walk in them as well as Gaga can).

The shoes being auctioned, were a big deal for several reasons. First the 30 cm tall boots made their debut in McQueen's S/S10 show, which famously broke the Internet when he previewed Lady Gaga's single, Bad Romance, during the opening walk. It was also the last ready-to-wear collection he produced before he died. So the shoes are a piece of fashion history. But even more interestingly, they were never available to buy in stores. And that makes the chance to snag a pair seem all the sweeter.

Only 21 pairs of the boots were ever made, and bidders had a chance to get their hands on three. The python-skinned styles, donated by Alexander McQueen, were available at Christie’s until July 23, with 100% of the proceeds going to UNICEF’s Nepal earthquake appeal. And if python doesn't fall into your budget this month, you can still experience the beauty. A pair of armadillos are currently on display at the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty Exhibition at the V&A (which is a must, btw).
