Don't take a peek at your own bank balance after reading this one, because it may be a deeply disappointing experience.

According to Forbes’ list of highest-paid TV actresses, sharing the top spot are two of the funniest women on telly – Sofia Vergara and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, with both actresses earning an incredible $28.5million (£18.5m) in 2015.

Vergara, who stars as Gloria in Modern Family, is no stranger to the Forbes list, this being her fourth year in a row at the top, but marks the first time she's shared poll position. In case you were wondering, Cuoco-Sweeting reportedly earns $1m per episode for her role as literal girl-next-door Penny on The Big Bang Theory.

Coming in second place: Julie Bowen, Vergara's on-screen daughter-in-law on Modern Family. That’s the family we wish we had been born into…

Ellen Pompeo of Grey’s Anatomy came third on the list, followed by Mariska Hargitay from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Juliana Margulies of The Good Wife fame.

This also means that Vergara and Cuoco-Sweeting are only half a million dollars away from matching Forbes’ highest-paid TV actor, Jim Parsons. So we'll put any feelings of jealously aside, and instead put all our efforts into closing the gender pay gap. And watching more Modern Family.
