For a while there we thought Hollywood hotrod Ben Affleck really had gone off the deep end.
Last July, Ben was pictured casually leaning over to fetch something from the backseat of his car while on an errand and we caught a little glimpse of something colourful on his lower back, peeping out from his shirt.
Then, while on set of his film 'Live By Night,' we got a much bigger eyeful of the back-tatt, which appeared to be an illustration of Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix, from the Harry Potter series. A lot of people were conned into believing it was real - here's TMZ convinced that the inkingis 100 per cent legit.
This, of course, sent us reeling as we dreamed up all of the other potential midlife crisis sins he might soon commit - leather trousers, red ferrari, uncomfortably young girlfriend, cowboy boots, double denim, to name a few.
Here he is apparently dabbling in a mid-life-crisis dose of fake tan:
Happily for Affleck fans all over the world, though, it seems he's had us fooled.
Speaking to TV host Mario Lopez about his upcoming Batman Vs Superman movie, he revealed that it was indeed 'fake for a movie'.
Ben goes on to explain that he does have a number of tattoos, but he tends to keep them in places that don't require too big a cover-up job for his various film duties.
