Yesterday was a big day: It marked the first day of spring, as well as the first time in nearly 90 years that a sitting president of the United States has visited Cuba. Along with President Barack Obama for the monumental trip were first lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha, who spent their spring break helping their parents make history instead of doing whatever it is high school kids spend their spring breaks doing these days (I hope it's still sitting at home doing basically nothing, like I did).

They left Andrews Air Force Base on Sunday wearing coats — the weather in Maryland yesterday was pretty chilly.

By the time they landed in Havana, they shed their coats for light spring dresses better suited for the rainy 80-degree weather.

As they toured Old Havana, they were met with adulation from the crowds that had gathered. "When the soaked crowds glimpsed the president and his family, they let out a roar, many of them calling out his name," reports the New York Times.

While they got super glammed up for the State Dinner recently, Sasha's and Malia's youthful dresses for the Havana trip were much more accessible.

Malia's floral look is a skater dress from ASOS:

And Sasha's dress is a black knit piece from Shoshanna:

Chief official White House photographer Pete Souza captured some more sweet moments of the girls in Cuba, where they'll be for a 48-hour visit. A short trip, but still going down as one of the coolest spring breaks ever.
