Shirting got all romantic on us recently, slipping off shoulders and billowing around the sleeves.

But on the other end of the spectrum the stiff collars and the double cuff sleeves of  city boys have started to make an appearance on our Instagram feeds almost in protest to all the prettiness.

As with a lot of micro-trends the pieces themselves can be tricky to track down, but we've sourced the best brands to shop the impractical sleeve trend now.

Anna Quan

Aussie girl Anna Hoang specialises in beautifully cut shirts in heavy structure cotton that gives them a weighty feel. She also offers monograming in silk thread that makes for an unmissable Instagram moment - just be careful of dipping those personalised sleeves in that perfectly placed coffee.

Palmer Harding

ELLE Fashion team favourites, Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding launched their shirting brand in 2012 having graduated from Central Saint Martins. What this duo can do with shirting will make your wallet wince, their shirt dresses are a minimalists' workwear dream. But dresses aren't what you came here for. The blue boyfriend shirt with white sleeves creates the perfect contrast to emphasis your oversized sleeve-action.

Thomas Pink

As this trend is borrowed from the boys it makes sense to go straight to the source. Tried and tested by our fashion director Anne-Marie Curtis, the tailoring brands Arthur Plain Slim double cuff shirt makes for the perfect statement cuff shirt. Just unfold and iron down the cuff and your good to go!

In other (non political) news am wholeheartedly endorsing the oversized cuff trend. #offthecuff #styleitout 👕⚡️A photo posted by Anne-Marie Curtis (@amcelle) on Jun 30, 2016 at 2:50am PDT
