If you weren't already getting overexcited for the festive period, then we have some news that might help you get there. Today, Claridge's revealed that Karl Lagerfeld will be designing the hotel's Christmas tree – and we're guessing it won't be low key.

The Claridge's Christmas tree is always a favourite amongst Londoners and now we can be sure that 2017 will prove no different. While he's given nothing away about the inspiration behind the design, we're hoping for Choupette-shaped baubles and a Chanel star on top of the tree.

"Christmas trees are the strongest 'souvenir' of my happy childhood," he said in a statement.

Lagerfeld is not the first fashion designer to take on the challenge. Christopher Bailey, John Galliano, Alber Elbaz and Dolce & Gabbana have all designed Christmas trees for the iconic Mayfair hotel.

You will be able to see the tree in the lobby of Claridge's on Wednesday 22 November.
