Do you go for classic and polished - or creative and personal? Shop from their list or make it a surprise? When it comes to Christmas gifting, the options are endless - and narrowing it down can be a challenge.

So, since we're feeling festive, we asked ELLE editors and staff to offer up a bit of gifting inspo. Below are the items they're purchasing for their loved ones, as well as a few they're (not so) secretly hoping to unwrap for themselves.

For them: Mum, avert your eyes now. Susan Walker LOVES Christmas and puts a herculean effort into the entire event (including putting the tree up early November). So she deserves something special. This year my sister, brothers and I are planning on joining forces to buy her an overnight stay and tasting menu at The Black Swan – Tommy Banks' Michelin star restaurant in Yorkshire.

For me: I'm using this as a chance to cosmic order something epic, so I'm going all out. Tiffany & Co.'s City Hardwear Link Bracelet has my name all over it. Hear that universe (/boyfriend)? ALL over it.

For them: My mum is a massive crystal obsessive and keeps them everywhere. Seriously, I dare you to try to find a room in her house that doesn't house a giant slab of purple amethyst. I've had my eye on a gold-finished quartz cheeseboard from Anthropologie that's got her name written all over it.

For me: Apart from the quilted velvet sofa of my dreams (which feels less likely to appear in my stocking…) I'm hoping for a cheeky staycation trip to the Peak District with my boyfriend. Sounds boring, but a cosy Airbnb and a country walk that ends at a pub is all I want for Christmas.

For them: This year, my family is doing Secret Santa - so everyone buys one bigger present for one person, instead of smaller stuff for everyone. I lucked out and drew my sister - the easiest person to shop for because we have the exact same taste. The Tiffany & Co. Infinity Ring in rose gold with diamonds would be perfect for her. It's a gorgeous, luxury piece - but simple enough for every day.

For me: I'm slightly obsessed with Topshop, and I've had my heart set on a shearling biker jacket. This red number is perfect - especially since it comes in a bright shade of the season's hottest colour. I can picture myself unwrapping it and then wearing it over the top of my pyjamas for the rest of Christmas. Are you listening, Santa?

For them: My mom always makes so much effort at Christmas and this year is no different. Between juggling everyone's life dramas and making menus for the week, she's definitely earned something special. I'm loving Tiffany T Smile Pendant, the diamonds take it to the next level and the cute smile reminds me of all the times we've spent laughing down the phone together.

For me: I'm not going to lie, while perusing the Tiffany & Co. T collection, I spied the Tiffany T Square Bracelet and I'm hoping my mom telepathically knows that my magpie eyes have spotted it and buys me something from the same collection. High hopes, I know.

Rachel Macbeth, PA to Editor-In-Chief & Editorial Assistant

For them: This year is a particularly special year for the Macbeth household, as it's the first Christmas that will feature the family's latest addition… the first grandchild. However, at the age of seven months, I am certain that my baby niece will receive plenty of gifts and attention on Christmas Day, which is why I want to gift my sister something extra special. Since becoming a first-time mum, her priorities have shifted and the simple luxury of having a hot cup of tea or a long soak in the tub are a thing of the past. This year, I will be giving the gift of time with a book of homemade vouchers that offer everything from unlimited babysitting sessions to taking on bath time.

For me: I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed to (hopefully) find plane tickets to Stockholm in my stocking this year. As my favourite city, I used to be a frequent traveler to the Scandi centre of cinnamon buns, meat balls and of course the Acne Studios archive stores. However, having not visited in over a year, I am starting to get withdrawal symptoms and am craving a weekend away to indulge in the hygge lifestyle that I try so desperately hard to replicate in my own home.

For them: This year, I really want to spoil my loved ones and give them something that will give them hours of fun so I'm thinking of buying a Google Mini for my mum to help with those cooking adventures and a bespoke kayaking session in Lee Valley for my boyfriend in an attempt to sweeten him up for what's on my Christmas list...

For me: As someone who's just recently fallen back in love with wearing earrings, I've been on a mad earring haul this past year. I've got all the statement styles a girl could want now but I'd secretly love someone (if anyone's listening) to splurge on the Tiffany & Co. City Hardwear Gold Link Earrings for me. The chain-style design is timeless in my opinion so it'd be worth the investment…

For them: My boyfriend has been eyeing up a pair of white Common Projects trainers for what feels like forever, so I'll be getting him those (plus Crep protect).

For me: I'd like an internet radio – it'll sound better than the apps on my phone and might actually get me out of bed in the morning.
