We're used to seeing beauty products and Birkin bags with astonishingly long waiting lists, but it's rare for a simple wardrobe staple to be in such high demand, until now. The 'Barry' cardigan from French label Sézane currently has 30,000 fans queuing for it to become available, The Independent reports.

The cardigan is part of Sézane's permanent collection of iconic Parisian pieces and currently retails for £90. It actually first launched in September, but has sold out a number of times since then – and has now garnered a more than impressive fan base.

The sweater comes in light grey, ecru, nude and black and can be worn either frontwards in a classic fashion or backwards for an off-the-shoulder look, according to Sezane's website.

Of course part of the appeal is that it is made by Sézane – an affordable French label, which can help transform us all into chic Parisians. But, the popularity is even more likely down to the fact that the cardigan has been favoured by a number of Instagram influencers.

Modelled by Camille Rowe in the campaign – fashionable French influencer, Victoria's Secret model and rumoured squeeze of Harry Styles – and endorsed on Instagram by stylish women including Julie Sarinana and Courtney Halverson (who have over five million followers between them), it actually doesn't come as a huge surprise that the cardigan is so popular.

If you ever want to get your hands on a 'Barry' though, we suggest you join the waiting list immediately, which you can do by clicking the link below.
