Kering, the fashion behemoth behind brands such as Gucci, Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen, wants to help us all become more savvy to fashion sustainability through the launch of the first all-access digital course in just that.

The company has teamed up with the London College of Fashion on the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), which aims to strengthen education into fashion sustainability and encourage a wider adoption of more sustainable habits - which, let's face it, we could all do with taking note of. The course, entitled Fashion & Sustainability: Understanding Luxury Fashion in a Changing World, was co-developed by LCF academics and Kering sustainability experts. Kering was named the most sustainable textile, apparel and luxury goods corporation in the world by Corporate Knights earlier this year.

'We actively work with our Houses to craft tomorrow's luxury via our 2025 sustainability strategy,' said Kering CEO Francois Henri Pinault at the launch in London today, 'but also wish to contribute to the evolution of luxury fashion as a whole, by sharing our expertise with industry counterparts and educating future generations.

'Today I am proud that Kering's partnership with London College of Fashion takes a new step, making education accessible outside of the classroom with this the world's first open-access digital course on sustainable luxury fashion.'

The six-week course will cover both the theoretical aspects of sustainability as well as real-life business cases that luxury fashion brands face when integrating more sustainable practices. The first edition covers a total of 18 teaching hours - which applicants are able to complete at their leisure - through a mix of films, podcasts, activities and discussions, all available via the online platform (accessible by mobile, tablet and desktop).

The best part? It's open to absolutely anyone who wishes to sign up - although it does have a specific aim of educating those already in the fashion industry, or with the hope of joining it in the future.

Registration for the course is open now, with the course beginning on 9 April.
