Britney Spears of snake-around-her-neck-at-the-2001-VMA's fame is the face of Kenzo's latest collection, La Collection Memento N°2. You will not be surprised to learn that she looks perfect in the ads, as do her abs.
The campaign was shot by photographer Peter Lindbergh in Los Angeles, and showcases a collection that is big on denim, tigers and The Great Wave of Kanagawa.
"Britney Spears is an icon. She's up there with Michael and Madonna. Growing up, she is also synonymous with denim with me. When her and Justin came out in their denim outfits, that is like an iconic look," Kenzo co-creative director Humberto Leon said in a statement. "When we were designing the collection, I was like, 'If I can have a dream person, who would I want to be in denim? It has to be Britney.' Britney is the queen of denim to me."
"It's definitely a wildcard but it also makes perfect sense because I think also she's both the quintessential American and also an eternal teenager," Leon continued. Happily, Spears was game. And come shoot day, not too much direction was needed. "She would go on the set and just really be herself and move. We ended up choosing a lot of these kind of great in-between moments doing some of her classic moves. To see her in her element, you realize why she's Britney Spears."
"I did lots of denim when I was a kid, and still do. Jeans and a tee shirt or a cute top are like my go-to outfit when I just want to be casual and comfy. And it can be dressy and cool too," Spears said in a statement. "I once wore a denim dress to an awards show." Boy do we know it.
Kenzo La Collection Memento N°2 will be available at kenzo.com and at retailers on March 21.
