Vintage Miu Miu shoes

Every issue of ELLE magazine is a labour of love for me and the team but September, the fashion issue, is perhaps our best loved of the year. I have been so absorbed in the Olympics I've neglected to tell you the best bits of your new-season magazine; that's unlike me! So here they are:

New Shoes: There's loafers – elegant and chunky heeled, the Topshop Unique patent-leather knee-high boots everyone will want, and a pair of Stella McCartney faux-leather pointy-toed ankle boots you will have on your shopping wish list for some time to come. We discuss the right height of the new small-heel trend for you and Avril Mair tells you what to wear it with.

High-street hitlist: Our Style for Less shoot by Natalie Wansbrough-Jones shows you how to wear the new season's boyish silhouette. Get that tweed, £69, wool jacket from Next before it sells out is my advice. And after seeing the shoot I am tempted to go for a kilt. Yes you heard me, a kilt.

The new Jonathan Saunders coat I have ordered made it into the issue, but I wasn't brave enough to reveal my shopping diary like Anne-Marie Curtis, our fashion director. She lists everything she's bought for the new season. I've been shopping with AMC – she's the most efficient shopper you'll ever meet, not just the most stylish.

We persuade YouTube make-up guru Tanya Burr to talk us through her make-up bag and we interview world-famous make-up artist and ELLE magazine columnist Lisa Eldridge about how she began her career. It's an inspirational journey and a great read for anyone who wants her job. Our beauty section gives you the best tips for a quick and easy blow dry and Emma Strenner talks us through her skin and the products right for your ethnic background.

Rebecca Lowthorpe interviews Mr Armani on a six-page extravaganza. It has taken eight years – ever since I started at ELLE - to get this interview, and it was definitely worth the wait. We also run a very moving piece from one of our ELLE talent competition runners-up about her feelings and recovery from an abortion in her twenties.

The Dr Martens bag is here. I love it!

The DM is a forever buy.

All in one: One for all. Benefit genius.

This week the editor is:

Listening to Dizzee Rascal's Olympic single Scream

Watching The Olympics Closing Ceremony as a guest of Mr Armani in the Olympic Stadium. I know all the words to Spice Up Your Life. You'll hear me.
