Our obsession with the Stella McCartney-clad Team GB knows no bounds this week. Short of making Team ELLE do the Usain Bolt salute every morning, I dont think you would meet a more Olympic-dedicated and patriotic magazine team.
Personally, Ive enjoyed trips to the gymnastics finals with designer Richard Nicoll Fashion Easts Lulu Kennedy (who used to compete on the vault, would you believe), been mesmerised by the mens diving courtesy of Ralph Lauren, taken my eldest two daughters to the dressage (go Valegro, go!) and accompanied my husband James to the 400 metres mens final.
On Sunday I am heading to the Olympics closing ceremony as a guest of Armani. If you follow Victoria Beckham on Twitter youll have some idea what may happen there (I know all the words to is all I am saying).
I am a very lucky editor as this week has been filled with once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Given my general interest in sport can usually be summed up by two words, David Beckham, I feel privileged to have witnessed so many historic sporting moments. Its been emotionally exhausting. Tears? Weve shed more than a few! Weve loved the carnival atmosphere at the games and particularly enjoyed the USAs Ryan Bailey catwalking before the 100 metres mens final.
September cover girl Rosie Huntington-Whiteley sent every member of the ELLE covers team flowers. This doesnt always happen. Shes so very well brought up and thats why we love her!
We love Olympic nails and here's how to do Olympic hair

Every time I talk to men about the Olympics, they reel off a list of statistics. It makes me cross because I dont know more. So I asked the ELLE team to compile some Olympic fashion facts you can reel off when anyone asks. Good to have the expert knowledge in your chosen field I think!
-
Italys kit is designed by Giorgio Armani, while the national sailing team is dressed by Prada
-
Germanys 2012 outfits are blue for boys, pink for girls. Not sure we like this stereotyping
-
Jamaicas uniform is designed by Bob Marleys daughter Cedella
-
Hermès made the French equestrian teams riding jackets. We want one of those for the front row
-
The Czech Republics uniform includes wellies teamed with white shorts. You should not attempt this at home. Ever
-
Nikes turbospeed suit is the official kit for the USA track and field team. Nike says the outfit could take 0.023 seconds off 100 metre sprint times and are made from 13 recycled water bottles. Big tick. We will wear them to reach the front of the Mulberry sample sale queue!
And some Olympic fashion facts from previous years:
-
Uniforms worn by the USA team at the Lake Placid games in New York in 1980 were designed by Levi Strauss. Levi Strauss designed the uniforms again at the Sarajevo games in 1984
-
Adidas has provided the kit for British athletes since 1984
-
Vera Wang designed the skating outfits for USA Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan in the 1992 and 1994 games

Im not sure what well all talk about next week, but these should keep you going during the ad breaks for the closing ceremony.

Looking forward to reading Alison Taylors new novel The Still Single Papers: The Fearless Musings of a Romantic Adventurer Aged 32/. Alison used to work in the ELLE features department and always dreamt of writing a novel. Now she has and has thanked me for encouraging her. Be brave and start yours today
