A simple Prada dress with Camilla Skovgaard shoes and Christopher Kane clutch. We ate in the room where the Treaty of Versailles was signed at the Hotel Trianon Palace, Versailles.

From China to Czechoslovakia, from Canada to Spain, almost every editor of the 43 editions of ELLE worldwide attended the international ELLE Editors conference in Versailles, France, this week.

What did we talk about or rather who did we talk about? YOU that’s who, the consumer, reader, user: the stylish and spirited women we produce all these pages for. ELLE has 21 million readers worldwide, and it is the biggest-selling fashion magazine on the planet.

Apart from all the amazing pairs of shoes worn at the conference, obviously, our biggest talking point was the digital expansion of our magazine brand – and our plan to be there for you every minute of your day. Watch this space is all I can say because I now have even bigger plans for your ELLE.

I packed twice as many dresses as needed and six pairs of shoes for two nights, opting for Prada, Erdem, Chanel and Marc Jacobs in the end for my presentations and the Editors dinner.

I learnt many things from all the editors and publishers here, which will be incredibly helpful as we evolve ELLE, ELLE Collections and ELLEuk.com. Much of it only I need to know, but did you know that Turkish women watch seven hours of TV a day, Chinese ELLE has so much luxury advertising it has to produce two issues a month, Spanish ELLE produces a Love Book and the Brazilian editor regularly goes to live with a reader to find out more about her life (don’t even think about it!)? I also learnt that everybody loves David Beckham.

In the grounds of the hotel. It rained!

The Chanel dress I bought and have yet to wear. Investment?
