It’s 388 pages big and the cover star is all manner of long legs and gorgeous hair! Yes, the September issue is well and truly under way as we sit through summertime showers at ELLE towers in Soho, London.

I’ve been reading copy and approving regular page layouts at my desk all week. Do you want to know what’s in September? Well, obviously, I can’t give away everything (I’m not an editorial fool), but I can give you five clues as to what will fill this autumn issue of ELLE, which is the star of the new season, the one you write your wardrobe wish list with:

1. Shoes (a given) – but what is the new look you’ll all be able to wear each day?

2. An interview that saw our intrepid reporter travel the world to meet a fashion icon so legendary it’s taken eight years for me to persuade this person to do it

3. An astrological surprise. Yes, really. Bet my Louboutins you’ll never guess this feature

4. All the new beauty trends and how you’ll wear them. Not giving anything away here – we do this annually and it’s the best report in the business

5. A horse. Yes, a horse

I love it in all its forms. Animal prints in the fashion cupboard from the a/w collections, ready for shooting

This House of Fraser satchel is on my wish list but am I brave enough?

Peonies are a favourite of mine. These, from Michael Foster at The Rights House, cheered the office up

This week the editor has:

Bought the book Easy Riders, Raging Bulls: How the Sex ’n’ Drugs ’n’ Rock ’n’ Roll Generation Saved Hollywood by Peter Biskind

Helped create ELLE’s Friday playlist – I contributed Gloria by Van Morrison. Can you guess the playlist theme?

Been sale shopping
