There’s no stopping the creative and energetic powerhouse that is Phillip Lim. When I meet him for a cold espresso in central London’s Connaught hotel he’s fresh from a quick shopping pit stop after opening his pop-up shop at Selfridges.

He talks and thinks fast, and is full of ideas. What I like best about Lim though is his ability to put the woman who is wearing and buying his collections at the centre of his world – she’s so busy she needs his 31 hour bag, she loves clothes so much he spends hours correcting the fall of the fabric for her dress. Lim worships the women he designs for and that is so refreshing to hear in such a young and talented designer.

His brand of modern luxury and minimal accessories will have a long and much-loved shelf life I believe. He has a cult following which is growing and growing.

After we talked shop, we talked dogs. His French Bulldog Oliver is his most treasured possession. Sadly, I cannot say the same about Duke, my six-year-old Airedale, who is a more challenging character to love given his lack of discipline and need for complete attention at all times – I don’t know where he gets that from.

If I could choose anything from the 3.1 Philllip Lim site? These beautiful sheer trousers for when the sun's out.

I don’t know what this is, or what it’s doing, but it’s plugged in to the side of the building I work in.

How clever is that? They fold up!

(iPad case by Ted Baker, £89)

Fashion director Anne-Marie Curtis limits my use of leopard print, but this Ted Baker iPad case was allowed!

But how to wear it? I'm going to be asking Donna Wallace, our accessories editor, for tips.
