(Jumper by Joseph, skirt by Jonathan Saunders and boots by Jerome Rousseau)

It's the Jonathan Saunders 'Belle' silk skirt, £890 from Matches. I am trying it out because the full skirt, which drops below the knee, is not a friend of mine – we don’t get on. I’m wondering if it works. What say you? I am conscious of my lack of height, but then I see online editor Carrie Tyler, who is also petite, carrying it off, so I think maybe it’s worth me giving it a go.

Have you seen the ‘Show Us Your Saunders!’ campaign the team at Saunders Studios has been running on Facebook? It’s a very clever idea and I was honoured to be part of it.

So where have I been? What have I done as editor in chief this week? Here’s a quick update. After all, I did promise you a glimpse into daily life at ELLE:

Breakfast: Jonathan Saunders, fashion’s man of the moment, is on a roll. He’s full of ideas and we talk at full speed about how his business is growing here and internationally. I notice some of his pieces are being stocked in Urban Outfitters now, which brings the Saunders collection to a new audience. But it’s his dresses that get star billing, as always. He talked me through ideas for his new collection for s/s 2013, which he’ll be showing this September. I love hearing about a designer’s creative process and Jonny describes everything so articulately. We first met eight years ago at a party thrown by Donatella Versace in London and following his amazingly successful progress has been a joy.

Meetings and mood boards: The fashion team has debriefed me this week on the high-street press days, where the autumn/winter collections are previewed. There’s so much you’ll love. We talk through all the pieces and work out how an ELLE girl would wear them, and then discuss new labels. Without giving it all away, I’d say prepare your wardrobe for the new running shoe (as weekend wear), a velvet slipper, a glossy loafer, a trouser suit and a knee-high boot. That’s all for now. Don’t tell anyone I told you.

This mood board was compiled by the fashion team for our July Style For Less shoot. I love the energy.

Cider with Alice. Alice Temperley has designed an exclusive collection for John Lewis and she sent us this. I’m from Cornwall. I like cider.

This arrived in the post and my heart skipped a beat. Debbie, you’re my hero! A good read to start this weekend.

And you have seen this, right?
