Lorraine's Blog: Casual Friday

Sometimes I think I spend more on ‘weekend’ clothes than I do work clothes

It's due to an unfortunate and costly cashmere addiction. But this outfit is a good high-street mix for what we’re calling 'casual Friday' in the office now that the sun has finally come out and we’re heading towards the traditional ELLE gin o’clock later this afternoon. It’s a relief to feel relaxed and comfortable after such a busy week.

Mabel is nearly 11 months now. The below was spotted by eagle eyed bargainista fashionista (Twitter: @bargainistafash) during a lunch trip:

Last night, Fashion East founder Lulu Kennedy had cocktails to celebrate her MBE. I chatted with designers Richard Nicoll and Jonathan Saunders, as well as British Fashion Council bosses Harold Tillman and Caroline Rush, before heading off to see Romeo and Juliet at the Royal Opera House.

Gwyneth Paltrow had brought her children, who were impeccably behaved throughout. She looked amazing in a grey body-con dress. I sat next to ELLE cover star Alexa Chung and spotted a whole host of BBC news presenters in the crowd. After a great performance, I headed home at 11pm.

Today I’m catching up on reading copy for our June issue and looking at layouts. Then it’s home early to get ready for Company editor Victoria White’s big birthday do. It’s a fancy-dress party and we’re all going as 1970s TV characters. Mr Candy collected our costumes from Pinewood Studios yesterday. If you can guess who I’m going as, you will be the only person to see the picture. Ever.
