New year, new clothes...and new designers to make them. Meet the freshmen class of New York Fashion Week, debuting now and (hopefully) in your closet for a long time to come. Scroll through to find your new must-have brand.

Like Gucci and Dapper Dan, Adidas is embracing its coolest copycat—in this case, Daniëlle Cathari. The young Dutch designer showed remixed track suits on the V Files runway last season. Now she hits NYFW with Adidas' official backing, and Kendall Jenner as a look book model. There will be buzz.

Bande Noir

Mayte Allende has been a Women's Wear Daily staffer for thirteen years; now she debuts Bande Noir, her own collection that's literally editor-approved. Expect textured, layered coolness that lets everyone know you're in-the-know.

Black Panther

To paraphrase Hamilton, this is not a movie, it's a movement...and it's got a fashion collection to prove it. With film-inspired pieces by Cushnie et Ochs, Brother Vellies, and Chromat, among others, this event is hotly anticipated—even among the jaded style set. See you there, Michael B. Jordan?

Tomas Maier takes his sleek brand of gorgeousness from Milan to Manhattan this season, and our Instagram feeds say grazie! Past runways packed stars like Gigi, Bella, Kendall, Kaia, and even Lauren Hutton; this one takes place at the American Stock Exchange.

Ganni

Somewhere between Hygge and It Girl lies Ganni, the Danish label that's half snuggly, half super-cool. They're showing an exclusive collection at a "Souvenir Pop-Up Shop" this season, but if you're not in the Big Apple, head to the Internet and order it online.

John Elliott

If you missed out on his famous lavender hoodie, fear not: John Elliott is bringing new essentials to New York Fashion Week with the debut of his very first women's line. Will we stop ordering his men's denim jackets in XXS? No, but we're always game for more options.

It was hard to miss Land of Distraction's big launch in California: the new label took over Chateau Marmont with Angela Bassett, Kate Bosworth, Connie Britton, and gotta-have-it denim. "The second collection comes to New York because it's the fashion capital, in so many ways," says founder Danita Short. "It's more textured, more refined...but still very much in love with corduroy." Design Director Christian Juul Nielsen worked with Raf Simons at Dior, so your new bell bottoms are in very good hands.

Maya Reik cannot legally drink, but the 19-year-old can make some fierce faux fur, as recently worn by Bella Hadid. The Israeli designer hits New York for the first time this week focusing on classic luxury with cruelty-free materials.

Saks Potts

Are you a street style star just waiting to happen? Then you probably own a coat from Saks Potts, the zany gang who make bubblegum fuzzy princess coats a dazzling reality. Though beloved in their native Denmark, they're newbies on the New York scene...though their signature pieces are perfect for looking cool in our fair city's zero degree windchill.
