So far we’ve watched the Coldplay x Beyonce x Bruno Mars performance about 10 times (the moves, people. The moves!) and have had far too many feels for a Monday morning.
Now it’s time to turn our attention to the Super Bowl’s second most-exciting part; the clothes. Sorry American football, you’re not even getting a look in.
First to the Queen of the night, Beyonce. Proving you don’t need four costume changes in 12-minutes to make an impact (here’s looking at you, Katy Perry), Bey slayed in just one custom-made creation by DSquared2.
The black military-inspired leather jacket appeared to be a homage to Michael Jackson and the outfit he wore for his 1993 half-time performance at the Super Bowl.
Last night’s performance did of course come hot on the heels of Bey dropping ‘Formation’ out of the blue, in true Beyonce style (all the looks from Beyonce’s Formation video have been dissected by our Fashion Features Director Kenya Hunt).
“We love Beyonce and wanted to create something where she resembles a warrior leading her female posse who fall into ‘Formation’ and take Super Bowl 50 at half-time!" the designers, Dean and Dan Caten, said about the outfit.
In true warrior style, Bey even recovered gracefully from a squatting dance move that very nearly went wrong. #squatgoals.
She then literally broke the Internet when she announced her Formation world tour – which is coming to Sunderland of all places.
It’s probably worth mentioning that she did all of the this while wearing 100 carats of champagne diamonds by jeweller-to-the-stars Lorraine Schwartz. Just another night in the life Beyonce.
But she wasn’t the only pop icon slaying it. Lady Gaga gave a rousing performance of the National Anthem, chock-full of meaningful hand gestures. But they couldn’t detract from her epic Gucci suit.
Never would we have imagined saying these words: must buy a red lurex suit now.
Perfectly in keeping with Gucci’s in-demand kooky Seventies aesthetic, Gaga accessorised with non-matching shoes (come on, she had to get a bit of wacky in there) and the best red glitter eyeshadow we have ever seen.
