It's a craze that's taken Japan by storm and it has finally hit the capital. No, we’re not talking about a bizarre new fashion trend or a new wave of Pokémon cards – we’re talking about cat cafés.

Lady Dinah’s Emporium, based in Shoreditch, opened its doors to feline fans on 1 March and has proven to be such a popular choice for cat-lovers, that it’s fully booked for the next two months. And things are only going to get busier…

The cat café, which is the first to open in the UK, prides itself on being a home for twelve rescue cats. Folks who are in need of respite from the hustle and bustle of London can book a table and pop in for tea, cake and the chance to stroke some kitties. N’aww.

So, what do the cats think about the whole thing? ‘They go away and come back for attention when they want it,' said café owner, Laura Pears.

'They can have rest time when they want to. They really don't seem to be fussed at all.'

Our verdict? Cat cafés are cool…
