It's official: London Fashion Week is underway. Five days of shows, presentations and parties courtesy of the city's most talented designers and stand-out labels kicked off this morning with a breakfast hosted by British Fashion Council chairman, Natalie Massenet.
Fresh off a plane from New York, Massenet took the opportunity to champion the cultural hub that London is set to be over the coming days, playing host not only to LFW but the Baftas and the Brits (not to mention the ELLE Style Awards) as well. She highlighted the fact that the. British Fashion industry is now worth an impressive £26 billion and employs 800,000 people, and that the BFC has enlisted the help of industry experts and investors to help ensure that it gets even bigger and better.
Shortly afterwards emerging designer J JS Lee was handed the honour of opening the season with a clean, refined collection inspired by the peace and tranquility of the English countryside. And that's just the beginning. Over the coming days we'll see shows from Burberry and Tom Ford, Christopher Kane and JW Anderson, Topshop Unique and. Even the pouring rain can't dampen our excitement.
