Awards season continues

Lupita Nyong'o and Cate Blanchett triumphed at Sunday night's London Critics' Circle Film Awards at the May Fair Hotel.

While Cate bagged Actress of the Year award Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine, ELLE favourite Nyong'o won Supporting Actress for her breakout role in .

Stars on the red carpet included Supporting Actress nominee Naomie Harris - stunning in a yellow Naeem Khan flapper dress.

The evening started on a sombre note as guests gave a standing ovation in memory of Philip Seymour Hoffman, whose death was announced minutes before the ceremony.

12 Years director Steve McQueen hit the stage to accept the award for Best Film, while Chiwetel Ejiofor won Best Actor.

Other winners included (Best Director) and (Best Foreign Film).

Steve Coogan collected the Best British Actress award for Philomena co-star Judi Dench and mingled with stars and critics at the vodka-soaked after-party at Novikov.

We chatted to Young British Actor Of The Year nominee George MacKay (How I Live Now) and Clio Barnard, who was thrilled to receive the award for Best British Film for The Selfish Giant.

With 12 Years the big winner of the night, all eyes will be on the hotly tipped British film come the Oscars in March.
